This advert is a good example of how institutes like dove are trying to get across how much the media manipulates our thoughts on what a beautiful woman looks like. For my practical piece I would like to do an advert demonstrating to people how the media manipulates women. I want to try and get across that the women that people see in the media, have been through hours of hair and make and and a lot of photoshopping. Too many young girls are seeing these women and thinking that they aren't beautiful in comparison to the women in the media. I want to try and create an advert that will change people's views.

ReplyDeleteFinish paragraph on Dove. Why as a beauty product brand have they chosen to go against the expected and conventional idea of using young, slim, attractive professional models in their advertising?
Textual Analysis. Carefully select THREE Dove adverts (a good idea would be to select one from each platform - a print ad, a TV advert and an online advert.) Discuss how gender (women) is represented in these adverts? Are the adverts very simple and straightforward? What kinds of messages are they trying to portray? HOW are they getting these messages across? For example, in a print advert the language and choice of words is very important, whereas in a TV advert the choice of music might be the most important thing.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOU ESSAY. SO, AIM TO WRITE BETWEEN 400-500
WORDS.
Research. Find three articles online that discuss gender and advertising. Put these within the webography section on your 'Critical Investigation' template on Google docs.
